Our Puja

The Satyanarayan Puja is a Hindu ritual worship performed to honor the Lord Satyanarayan, who is an embodiment of Lord Vishnu.

  1. Preparation:

    • Clean the house and the puja area.
    • Gather necessary items like a picture or idol of Lord Satyanarayan, a brass or silver kalash (holy pot), coconut, fruits, flowers, betel leaves, betel nuts, incense sticks, camphor, rice, turmeric, vermillion, sandalwood paste, a new piece of cloth, and prasad (offering).

  2. Setting up the Altar:

    • Place the picture or idol of Lord Satyanarayan on a clean and decorated altar.
    • Place the kalash in the center of the altar.

  3. Kalash Puja:

    • Fill the kalash with water and add some betel leaves, betel nuts, rice, and a coin.
    • Cover the kalash with the coconut.

  4. Ganesh Puja:

    • Begin the puja by invoking Lord Ganesha to seek his blessings and remove obstacles.

  5. Satyanarayan Puja:

    • Light the lamp and incense sticks.
    • Offer flowers, turmeric, and vermillion to the deity.
    • Recite the Satyanarayan Katha, which narrates the story of Lord Satyanarayan.

  6. Aarti:

    • Perform aarti with camphor and rotate it in front of the deity.

  7. Prasad Distribution:

    • Distribute prasad among the attendees, which typically includes fruits and sweets.

  8. Dakshina:

    • Offer dakshina (donation) to a Brahmin or priest as a symbol of gratitude and generosity.

  9. Purnahuti:

    • Conclude the puja with the purnahuti, where a final offering is made into the fire.

  10. Feast:

    • It is customary to conclude the Satyanarayan Puja with a feast, where all attendees partake in the blessed prasad.

Then God will be pleased with us and shower His abundant grace upon us.

It’s important to note that while these steps provide a general guideline, regional variations and personal preferences may lead to slight differences in the way the Satyanarayan Puja is performed. Additionally, it’s common for individuals to consult with a priest for guidance and to ensure the proper execution of the ritual.
